Dr. Downie is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and directs Image Dermatology, her practice in Montclair. She has served as principal investigator on more than 65 cosmetic clinical trials for major pharmaceutical companies, with a focus on ensuring skin of color is represented in cosmetic dermatology research, and has published more than 110 scientific papers. She authored Beautiful Skin of Color (HarperCollins), one of the earlier comprehensive guides to dermatologic care for Asian, olive, and deeply pigmented skin.
